Master formats: delivery for streaming and vinyl

Mastering is the last controlled step before release. This guide covers the file types Nocentcetra delivers for streaming, download and manufacturing — and how to handle loudness, metadata and backups sensibly in Austria.

Rates and scope

Mastering is €92 per digital track or €265 for an EP up to six titles. That covers polish in a treated room: programme balance, clean transitions and exports in agreed formats. Workflow details: mastering.

Net per track: €76.67. VAT at 20 percent is included in gross prices. Scope in writing via contact; rules in terms and conditions.

Digital default: WAV

For streaming and download we usually deliver PCM WAV, 24-bit, at the project sample rate (often 44.1 or 48 kHz). Treat that as your archive — keep at least two copies in different places. MP3 or AAC can be added for promo or internal approval; bitrate noted in the handover note.

Platforms normalise loudness (e.g. LUFS targets). We master to preserve transients and musical dynamics instead of chasing one number. Target values are agreed per release. Instrumental or broadcast mixes are separate exports — name them before we bounce.

EP and album cohesion

On multi-song projects we align perceived level, tone and gaps. The €265 bundle fits up to six related tracks — useful before a Vienna launch or Austria-wide digital rollout.

If some songs were mastered elsewhere, say so early; matching takes time. Cleaner path: send mixing exports straight into our mastering session.

Vinyl and physical

Vinyl often needs a dedicated cut master (e.g. 24/96 WAV or plant-specific specs) plus side A/B programming. We align length, gaps and HF content with your pressing partner — each title behaves differently.

Evaluate test pressings on several systems; small EQ tweaks before the run are normal. Nocentcetra supplies files, not finished records — you arrange manufacturing. Lead times at Austrian and EU plants vary; buffer several weeks between master approval and release date.

DDP and CD

CD plants sometimes want a DDP image with PQ sheet, ISRC fields and indices. If ISRCs are missing, reserve them through the Austrian agency in time — we embed agreed codes but do not register on your behalf.

Before approval check order, start/end times and hidden tracks. Revisions within agreed rounds: 2 per terms.

Metadata, rights, retention

Send title, version, featured names and file naming. Client data retention: privacy policy; master files stay 18 months per terms unless contracted otherwise.

You keep ownership of your works; exploitation with labels or partners is contractual — not covered here. B2B processing: data processing agreement on request.

QC before go-live

Listen on headphones, speakers and, if you can, a car or kitchen radio. Watch for clicks, harsh sibilance and unexpected silence at the top. Test a private playlist upload before the public date.

Write A/B notes in plain language instead of only asking for “more loudness” — it speeds revisions within the 2 included rounds.

Mix changes after mastering need a new master — budget as in plan your mix budget. Vocal capture beforehand: prepare your vocal session.

Delivery and support

  • Download link or encrypted media by arrangement.
