We capture drums, amps and full ensembles in the live room — with an engineer, headphone mixes and separate booths for vocals so the band energy stays while tracks stay editable.
Band recording at Nocentcetra in Wien Margareten suits bands, trios and larger line-ups who want more than a quick demo: separated tracks that work for mixing and mastering. The live room is about 38 square metres; drums often sit behind glass while bass and guitars run through DIs and mics on amps.
Two iso booths capture vocals or overdubs while the rest keeps playing. Stefan Hofer typically runs sessions as recording engineer; Lukas Brenner supports production when needed. Book via contact — a 30% deposit holds dates under our terms and conditions.
Process
Set list and plan
Send tempo map, lineup and song list. We propose mic choices and headphone routing (6 headphone mixes available). Questions: 01 545 08 23 or [email protected].
Arrival and soundcheck
Margaretenstraße 78, 1050 Wien. U4 Pilgramgasse station (about 4 minutes on foot). Bus 13A stop Schönbrunner Straße / Mittersteig. From Wien Hauptbahnhof take U4 towards Hütteldorf to Pilgramgasse.. We place amps, kit and booths, then soundcheck — usually 45–90 minutes depending on lineup, counted inside booked time.
Takes and overdubs
Live takes or layered recording — we log take sheets and markers for the mix. Vocals or solos in iso booths while backing parts play from the control room.
Export and next steps
At session end you get multitrack exports or an agreed stem pack. Data stays 18 months on file. Optional mixing quote the same week.
Line-ups that fit the room
Four- and five-piece rock and indie bands are everyday work: drums, bass, one or two guitars, vocals. Smaller jazz trios or bigger setups with keys and percussion work too when we control amp volume and headphone balance.
Drums-and-bass-only days suit hourly booking; a full EP is often easier on the ten-hour block at €829.

Rooms and numbers
The studio has 4 treated spaces: control room, live room and 2 iso booths. 38 m² gives drums air without guitar highs drowning in room tone. Signals run through a 24-input path to the DAW — enough headroom for full kits and multiple DIs.
We provide core mics, cables, DIs and headphone distribution. Bring instruments, picks and snares you trust; amps can be yours or ours when available. Vocal-only capture: vocal recording.
Day rate versus hourly
Hourly (€138 incl. VAT): Overdubs, small line-ups or fixing single songs. Engineer and studio included.
Day (€829 incl. VAT): Ten-hour block — typical EP day with morning setup, flexible lunch, export in the evening. Overtime bills at the hourly rate.

How to prepare the band
Prep saves paid studio time:
- Rehearse structure — tempos and entries solid
- Bring sticks, snare, strings, picks, tuner
- Prioritised set list (A songs first if time is tight)
- Reference tracks for tone, not only loudness
- One person talks to the engineer; one counts entries
Spoken-word shows belong at podcast recording, not in the live room.
On the day
After soundcheck we set levels with peak headroom — important for later mixing. Talkback and 6 headphone mixes let everyone hear themselves. We mark takes in the DAW; on breakdowns we pause without killing flow.
Parallel booth capture handles lead vocals or ad-libs while rhythm stays in the room — less punch-in chaos later. When a take is almost there, we keep comp candidates instead of chasing endless passes.
Files you receive
Default is multitrack WAV 24-bit per instrument. Optionally:
- Rough MP3 for the band chat
- Session backup on your drive (bring media or ask ahead)
- Stem groups for quick work in your DAW
Editing, tuning and mix are separate — book mixing with track or stem rates. Master formats: master delivery formats.
Deposit, cancellation and liability
Dates bind after a 30% deposit; free cancellation until 5 days before the session per terms. Illness or gear failure: we reschedule fairly.
You insure instruments and personal gear; we cover studio equipment and proper capture per disclaimer. Under 16 needs accompaniment and written consent.

FAQ
How loud can guitar amps be?
Moderate stage volume is enough for our mic placement. We aim so brass and booth vocals stay clean. Extreme stacks — discuss upfront; DI plus re-amp in the mix may be smarter.
Are drums always behind glass?
Usually, so brass and vocals can record in parallel. Smaller line-ups may keep the kit open — then we plan fewer simultaneous takes.
What if we run past the ten-hour day?
Each extra hour started bills at €138 incl. VAT if the room stays available. Breaks are not charged; setup sits inside booked time.
Can we record a rehearsal?
Yes, if you want multitracks, not only a phone memo. Still budget engineer time — half days often cover two or three rough songs.
Do we need an external producer?
Not required. Lukas Brenner can help creatively; external producers are welcome if announced early. One band contact per session keeps talkback clear.
